Mrs. Carrie Mae Campbell Chumney, of Madrid, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2016. She was 85.


                


Mrs. Chumney was born April 24, 1931 in Houston County, to the late Emory Bennett Campbell and Lavada Pennington Campbell. A member of Madrid Baptist Church, she was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She will be remembered for her love of crochet, gardening and dining out with family and friends.


 


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, three brothers, and one granddaughter.


 


Survivors include her husband of 65 years, James Chumney; daughters, Rebecca Thomas (Charles) of Auburn, Martha Dixon (Bobby) of Madrid, Penny West (Jim) of Cedar Hill, TX; sons, Roger Chumney (Twilia) of Armillo, TX, Michael Chumney of Madrid; sister, Kathleen Kirkland; twelve grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.


 


Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, October 1, 2016 from the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Eddie Littlefield and Reverend Thomas Harrison. Burial will follow in Madrid City Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 1 PM until 2 PM, one hour prior to the service.


 


The family will be accepting flowers.
