Mrs. Clara Elizabeth Brazil Griffith, of Dothan, passed away Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Extendicare. She was 91.
Clara was born January 11, 1925 in LaGrange, GA to the late John Henry and Lottie Parham Brazil. Clara will be remembered for her love of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and her love of Nascar, Alabama football, and Atlanta Braves baseball.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Ray Griffith, Sr.; her son, Ray Griffith, Jr.; her grandson, James Griffin, III; her sister, Doris Quick; and her brothers, Charles Brazil and John Brazil, Jr.
Clara is survived by her daughters, Lottie (David) Hughes, Carolyn Dillard, and Linda (James) Griffin; her son, John Howard “Sonny” Griffith; her sister, Sara Kennedy; her grandchildren, Sabrina (Shane) Proctor, Hayley (Travis) Archie, and Elizabeth Griffith; and her great-grandchildren, Cooper Elizabeth Proctor and Eli Erickson Archie; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Monday, October 3, 2016 with Chaplain Jack Wingate officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 1 PM until 2 PM, one hour prior to the service.
The family will be accepting flowers.
The family would like to thank the staff of Extendicare for the care they extended to Clara during her stay at Extendicare.
