Mrs. Donnie Wynell Jackson, affectionately known in the Cottonwood community as Nanny, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at the age of 91.


Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 26, 2018, at 2:00 pm at Calvary Baptist Church in Cottonwood with Brother Richard Smith and Dr. Matthew Helms officiating.  Burial will follow at Cottonwood City Cemetery with Brother John Smith officiating and Kendall Glover directing.  Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 267 Metcalf Street, Cottonwood, AL, 36320.


The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 1:45 pm on Thursday prior to the services at Calvary Baptist Church in Cottonwood.


Mrs. Jackson was born on August 9, 1926 in Hogansville, GA to R. L. and Wilma Hodges.  She was a former employee of Wex-Tex and Van Heusen Factory and a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church in Cottonwood.


She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Andrew Jackson; an infant son; and brothers Willis, Owen, Durell & James Hodges.


Survivors include her children, Buddy (Tinker) Danford of Eufaula, Dianne (Boyd) Childree of Cottonwood, and Randy Danford of Cowarts; grandchildren, Kim Childree, Heather (Jason) Layton and Veronica (Michael) Layton; 7 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; one of a kind friend, Mary Ann Lundy; her special telephone buddies and her beloved pet, Peaches. 


Pallbearers will be Tyler McNiel, Heath Danford, Riley Herring, Cory Layton, Connor Layton, Jason Layton and Michael Layton.
