Mrs. Elizabeth (Beth) Byrd Tolleson, age 93, a resident of Dothan, passed away peacefully Monday July 11, 2016 at her home after an extended illness.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday July 13, 2016 at the First Baptist Church with the Reverend Bob Gross officiating. A Private family burial will follow at the Memory Hill Cemetery with Kendall Glover directing.
The family will be receiving friends from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church prior to services. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 300 W. Main Street, Dothan, AL. 36301.
Mrs. Tolleson was born on September 11, 1922 in Enterprise the daughter of Ransom Oben Byrd and Carrie Wise Byrd. Her family moved to Dothan at an early age. She joined First Baptist Church and has been a faithful member all of her life. Beth was a 1940 graduate of Dothan High School. She met Hal Tolleson at Compass Lake, Florida and they married in 1941. Beth stayed at home with their 4 children until she bought Art Floral Shop in 1971. She had a God-given talent for arranging flowers and was very successful for 17 years. She retired but still kept arranging flowers for her church and friends. Beth loved her church and her church family. She was devoted to her family. Beth and Hal spent many happy times with family and friends at Compass Lake and Lake Eufaula.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Hal Tolleson and special cousin, Harry Wise.
She is survived by her four children, David and Renae Tolleson, Carol and Eric Mann, Larry and Sharon Tolleson; all of Dothan; Tony and Amy Tolleson, Birmingham; sister, Judy Byrd Harris, Dothan and special cousin, Ann Wise Crenshaw, 12 grandchildren; Bronwyn & Bunk Hanahan, Bryan & Susan Tolleson, Bobby Tolleson, Brantley Tolleson, Chris & Courtney Mann, Kevin & Stephanie Cherry, Tim & Jill Tolleson, Tami & Neal Stanford, Tommy & Sarah Tolleson, Summer & Daniel Hughes, Sydney Tolleson and Taylor Tolleson; 24 great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Ingraham, Ludlum, Lindsay (Jacob), Emilee, Braleigh, Carter, Dowling, Brooke, Caroline, Jackson, Cameron, Trevor, William, Samuel, Zack, Peter, Judson, Mary Grace, Autumn, Andrew, Lexi, Layla and John William; 2 great-great grandchildren, Ryder & Blayke.
Pallbearers will be: Chris Mann, Kevin Cherry, Tim Tolleson, Tommy Tolleson, Neal Stanford, Bryan Tolleson, Bobby Tolleson, Brantley Tolleson, Taylor Tolleson, Bunk Hanahan and Daniel Hughes.
