Obituary from Holman Funeral Home and Cremations – Ozark, AL

Mrs. Ellen Marie Searcy Cumbie, 69, of Ozark, died Saturday, May 12, 2018, at her home.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 16, 2018, from Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Reverend James Bell officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Tuesday from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M.

Mrs. Cumbie was born November 18, 1948 in Dale County, Alabama to the late Louie Edgar Searcy and Ruby Ellen Bowman Searcy.  Marie lived an abundantly blessed life, full of love, travel, friends and family.  She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.  Marie was a strong Christian woman and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.  Her vivacious attitude, grace and selflessness is what we will remember most about her beautiful soul.  In addition to her parents, Marie is preceded in death by her beloved husband, James D. Cumbie. 

She will forever be missed by those she leaves behind, one brother, Norman Searcy of Ozark, her two sons, Chris Cumbie (Tina) of Ariton, Danny Cumbie of Ozark; three grandchildren, Chelsi Cumbie Niday (Chris), Blake Cumbie, and Gage Cumbie all of Ariton; two great-grandchildren, Ella Morgan and Parker, several nieces and nephews.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 1124 County Road 11, Ozark, Alabama  36360.
