Mrs. Eloise Marie Martin Murphree, a resident of Cowarts, passed away Monday, June 11, 2018 at her residence following an extended illness. She was 67.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Glover Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Adam Habbard officiating. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m.  Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Greensboro Cemetery in Greensboro, Alabama with Reverend Arthur Thomas officiating and Kendall Glover directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30-1:15 p.m. at the funeral home prior to service time on Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Kindred Hospice, 2127 Headland Ave., Dothan, AL, 36303 or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.

Mrs. Murphree was born September 13, 1950 in Mobile, Alabama to Stanley Hamilton and Melanea Jockish Martin and lived the early years of her life in Greensboro, Alabama. She has been a resident of Houston County for over 40 years. She was employed with Aladan as a lab tech for eleven years and later worked with Poly Environment for eighteen years. Mrs. Murphree was a member of Wayside Baptist Church for the past 20 years.

She is predeceased by her parents and two brothers, Stanley Hamilton Martin, Jr. and Keith Michael Martin; a sister, Sarah Zoellen Latham.

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, James Lee Murphree of Cowarts; a son, Jimmy Dewayne Murphree (Anita) of Cowarts; a daughter, Stacey Leigh Murphree of Ashford; three grandchildren, Colby Murphree, Haisten Murphree and Joshua Cade Hodges; two sisters, Marjorie Davis and Willie Thomas, both of Greensboro, AL; a sister-in-law, Anita Martin of Atlanta, GA.
