Mrs. Jaquita Lucas of Dothan passed away Friday, May 5, 2017 at her residence. She was 73.

Memorial services will be held at 5 P.M. Monday, May 8, 2017 at the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3 to 5 P.M. Monday, May 8, 2017.

Mrs. Lucas was a member of the United Pentacostal Church of Dothan. She was born in Dothan on May 11, 1943. She was a nurse for 33 years who cared for the mentally handicap and worked with the nursing home patients at Extendicare Nursing Home and Henry County Nursing Home. She loved to fish and to bake cakes. She loved her family very much and she loved God and her church family. 

She is preceded in death by her father Thomas Gunnels of Dothan and her mother Mary Randall Gunnels of Dothan.

Survivors include her husband Bob Lucas of Dothan; daughter Scarlett Hicks Clark (Philip Cheek) of Dothan; sons Morgan Hicks (Salina) of Webb; Glenn Hicks Dunkin of New Orleans, LA;  sister Quanna Love (Don) of Love Town; brothers Tommy Gunnels of Andalusia; Randall Gunnels (Jenny Delamotte) of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren Dustin Hicks (Jessica), Dr. Tiffany Hicks Sexton (David), Ryleigh Cheek, great-grandchildren Jackson Hicks, Mason Hicks. She was so excited about the arrival of her third great-grandson due in August 2017 to Dr. and Mr. Sexton. She is also survived by many beloved sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and beloved friends.
