Mrs. Jeanette Grouby Horne, age 81, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at SAMC following a brief illness.


Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at Southside Baptist Church with Reverend Stacey Stafford and Dr. Jerry Grandstaff officiating.  Burial will follow at Memory Hill Cemetery with Kendall Glover directing.  Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to Southside Baptist Church Building Fund, 423 East Cottonwood Road, Dothan, AL, 36301.


The family will be receiving friends prior to the services from 10:00 am until 10:45 am on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at Southside Baptist Church.


Mrs. Horne was born in Samson on April 5, 1936.  Her parents were Gus and Pearl Bethune Grouby.  She graduated from Auburn High School.  Mrs. Horne retired after working 20 years with the Dothan City Schools lunchroom at Young Jr. and Honeysuckle Middle School. 


She is preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother Billy Grouby and 3 sisters Jewell Jones, Virginia Adams and Wilma Williford.


Survivors include her husband of 60 years Lamar Horne of Dothan, 3 sons Steve Lamar Horne of Dothan, Greg Horne (Sandy) of Wicksburg and Glenn Horne of Notasulga; 2 grandchildren Jennifer Compton (Hagen) of Dothan and Matthew Horne of Wicksburg; and 1 great-grandchild Emory Compton of Dothan.


Pallbearers will be Phillip Horne, Van Horne, Scott Horne, Matthew Horne, Hagen Compton and Joe Cobb.
