Mrs. Linda Faye Mizell Hughes, a resident of the Ewell Community of Ozark, died Thursday, October 4, 2018, following an extended illness.  She was eighty-one years old.


Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Saturday, October 6, 2018, from Chalkhead Baptist Church with Reverend Kenneth Hale.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing.  The family will receive friends in the church Saturday from 12:30 P.M. until service time.


Mrs. Hughes was born June 20, 1937 in the Peniel Community of Dale County to the late John Jackson “JJ” Mizell and Susanna Hagler Mizell. She attended George W. Long School and graduated from Ozark High School in 1955. Mrs. Hughes received a degree in Cosmetology from George C. Wallace Community College. She worked with White Knight Manufacturing Company, Associated Builders Company, and was owner/operator of Ewell Poultry.  Mrs. Hughes retired in 2008.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Douglas Hughes; her son, Keith Hughes; and her son-in-law, Rodney Dodson.


Survivors include two sons, Kevin and Sharon Smith Hughes of Cumming, Georgia, Kendall Hughes of Millbrook, Alabama; one daughter, Selina Hughes Dodson of Ozark, Alabama; grandchildren, Andrew Hughes, Aaron Hughes, Savannah Hughes, Heather Hughes, Danielle Hughes, Michelle Hughes, and Jean Kendall Dodson; two sisters, Pamela Keown of Greenville, South Carolina, Rita Mizell of Pelham, Alabama; two brothers, Jack Mizell of Montgomery, Alabama and Larry Mizell of Ozark, Alabama, eight nieces and five nephews.


Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Chalkhead Baptist Church Building Fund, 495 County Road 35, Ozark, Alabama  36360.
