Mary Ellen Hatcher, a resident of Pansey, died Friday, August 4, 2017 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. She was 85.


Services for Mrs. Hatcher will be held at 3 PM Sunday, August 6, 2017 in Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage with Minister Sonny Fling officiating. Burial will follow in Pansey Church of Christ cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 PM until 2:45 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. The family will meet at the home of Gerald and Martha Hatcher, 115 Vann Drive, Ashford, Alabama.


Mrs. Hatcher was born in Houston County, Alabama October 1, 1931to the late Willie Von and Ruby Daniels Cook. She worked at Wex-Tex and was also a foster grandmother at Ashford Elementary School for 12 years. Mrs. Hatcher was a member of Pansey Church of Christ.


Mrs. Hatcher is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Gemes (GB) Hatcher and three sisters, Inez Chandler, Mavis Griffin, Janet Bowen and a son in law, Sammy Temple.


Survivors include her daughter, Debra Temple, Pansey; four sons, Earl Hatcher (Annell), Cowarts, Gerald Hatcher (Martha), Ashford, Donald Hatcher (Donna), Danny Hatcher (Faye) all of Pansey; 15 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; sister, Lessie Von Croom, Lovetown and a special friend, Queenie Johnson.
