Mrs. Mary Jane Mills Solomon, age 79, of Dothan, passed away April 7, 2017.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Monday April 10, 2017 at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Jim Sanders officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the church.

 

The family will be accepting flowers or contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church.

 

Janie was raised in Hazlehurst, GA. She attended South Georgia State College.  Her passion was golf for many years and served on the board of the Women’s Alabama State Golf Association.

 

She was preceded in death by her father, Archibald Solomon Mills; mother, Irma Dewberrry Mills; husband, John Z. Solomon III.

 

She is survived by her sons, John Z. Solomon II (Rebecca) of Ashford, Archibald M. Solomon ( Tracy) of Dothan; daughters, Marie Patterson Solomon of Seagrove Beach, FL., Jane Solomon (Colin Mayo) of Point Washington, FL.; sister, Nan McClendon of Pensacola, FL.; brothers, Bill Mills of Atlanta, GA., Harry Mills (Sunny) of Charleston, SC.; grandchildren Ivey Katz (Joey), John Solomon V (Ashley), J. Leigh  Solomon, Ashlie Wells (Eben), Archie Solomon (Haley), Mary Jane Nowell, Mack Harper, Jennifer Smith.; 6 great-grandchildren. She leaves behind beloved members of the Mills and Patterson families. Thank you to all her caregivers from Firstlight.

 

Active pallbearers will be Archie Solomon II, John Solomon IV, Eben Wells, Joey Katz, Paul Turner, Glenn Spivey, Lee Fitch, and Clay Howell.
