Mrs. Mary Lois Newton of Dothan passed away Saturday, August 13, 2016 at her home. She was 94.

Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ralph Sigler and Bill Dorminy officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 to 11 A.M. Tuesday, August 16, 2016, one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wiregrass Hope Group, 171 Westgate Parkway, Dothan, AL 36303.

Mary Lois and her husband was former owners of General Steel Co. She was a lifetime member of Women’s Republican Party for Houston County and having served as Past President, Treasurer and Chaplain. Mary Lois was a member of Forsythia Garden Club and had a passion for gardening. She was a lifelong Bible teacher and prayer warrior. Mary Lois was affiliated with Harvest Church in Dothan. Her greatest legacy was her love for Jesus Christ. Mary Lois was not blessed with biological children, but was a Spiritual mother to a multitude of children.

She is preceded in death by her husband McDaniel Newton and a sister Ruth Jordan Hearn.’

Survivors include nieces Sherry H. Cook (Russell), Pamela Hope Bedford, great-nephew Jerry Cook (Sharon),Wendy Donahue (John), great-nieces Libby Stokes Ludwig (Jeff),  several great-great-nieces and nephews, and her adopted daughter in Christ Susan Brazell-Smith.

 

Pallbearers will be Jerry Cook, Christian Cook, John Donahue, David White, Landon Brazell and Adam Brazell.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Ludwig and Clayton Donahue.
