Mrs. Maxine J. Smith of Dothan, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 18, 2017. She was 89.


 


Born November 17, 1927 in Dothan, AL to the late Walter L. and Lonie Pickle Johnson. Mrs. Smith was a lifetime member of Memphis Baptist Church. Mrs. Smith was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She enjoyed socializing with her sisters, working in her flowers, cooking, but her favorite past time was sharing her time and love making memories with her children and their families.


 


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis H. Smith, four brothers, and 3 sisters.


 


Survivors include her sons, Wayne Smith (Mary) of Headland, and Terry Smith (Pam) of Columbia; two sisters, Mildred Battles, and Jewell Butler; 6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


 


Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Monday, January 23, 2017 from Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Rick Glenn officiating and Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service time. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory in Headland.


 


Family will be accepting flowers or contributions made to Gentiva Hospice, 2740 Headland Avenue, Dothan, Alabama 36303.
