Mrs. Merlene Diane Lewis Register, age 71, of Dothan passed away Monday, June 6, 2016 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center.

 

Merlene Diane Register was born January 23, 1945 in Dothan, AL to the late Annie Graves and Harrison Lewis. She attended the Cottonwood School System. After school she became employed by Sony SPMA where she later retired. In 1963, she married the late Watson Allen and to this union her son was born.

 

Merlene enjoyed working in her garden, watching Nascar, Dale Earnhardt, Jr her favorite. She was a die-hard Alabama fan “Roll Tide” and she loved taking care of her dogs, Boxer and Prince.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Watson Allen; her sister, Wilma and spouse, Albert Powell; and her brother, Willie D and spouse, Mary Lewis.

 

She leaves to cherish her memory her son, David Register, his spouse, Felicia Register, grandson, Tavius Barrett, grandson, Kevin Mixon; sister, Jewell and spouse, Joe Berry; sister, Glenda and spouse Bill McDaniel.

 

Funeral services honoring Mrs. Register will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jerry Harden officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM, Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at the funeral home.

 

Serving as pallbearers will be Jimmy Lewis, Teddy Sizemore, Keith Carmichael, Larry McKenzie, Mike Sizemore, and Don Berry.
