Mildred “Pete” Adams Anderson, a resident of Ashford, passed away December 28, 2017 at her home surrounded by family, following an extended illness. She was 90 years old.


Funeral services will be held at 2PM Sunday, December 31, 2017 in the Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage with Reverend Stephen Peacock officiating. Burial will follow at the Ashford City Cemetery under the direction of Southern Heritage Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 4PM-6PM Saturday, December 30, 2017 at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to your favorite charity.


Mrs. Anderson was born January 12, 1927 in Houston County, Alabama. She was the daughter of the late Walt Adams and Etta Hall Adams. She was a member of Antioch Assembly of God Church and the Ashford Senior Citizens Center. She was a spreader and cutter at Wex Tex in Ashford for 32 years. Her most enjoyable times were spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was also passionate about growing flowers, working in the garden, and fishing.


Mrs. Anderson is preceded in death by her late husband, Rudolphus “Red” Anderson; brothers, Crawford Adams, and Odell Adams; sisters, Nadine Ivey, and Ruby White; half-brothers, Junior “Hoppie” Adams, and Randall Adams; step brother, CJ Hart.


She leaves behind her sons, Jimmy Rex (Linda) Anderson, Timmy Lamar (Belinda) Anderson; a daughter, Julia Faye Nunemaker; grandchildren, Amy (Shane) Hydrick, Misty (Mike) Calhoun, Vince Brackin,  Daniel Anderson, and Alena Anderson; great grandchildren, Dylan and Carli Hydrick, and Hayden and Chloe Calhoun; half sisters, Ann Thorne, Freddie (Junior) Carpenter, and Eloise (Talmidge) Baker; sister-in-laws, Frances “Bill” Adams, and Inez Anderson; special nieces, Jeanette Cherry, Annette Whaley, and Etta Adams.


The family would like to extend a special Thank You to Kindred Hospice, Dr. Doty and Staff, and special caregivers Shay and Sonya.


Pallbearers will be Tracy Adams, Bobby Adams, Charles Ray Adams, Ronnie Dale Adams, Phillip Anderson, and Rodney Whaley.
