Obituary: Mrs. Monnie Ruth Tew

 

Mrs. Monnie Ruth Tew of Slocomb went home to be with the Lord Sunday, August 27, 2017 at SAMC. She was 91. 

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory in Slocomb with Rev. Wendell Holmes and Rev., Lee Chorn officiating. Burial will follow in the New Teamon Baptist Church Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday beginning at 2:00 p.m. and continuing until service time. 

Mrs. Tew was born May 15, 1926 in Geneva County to the late Manley Fields and Banion Ann Strickland Fox. Monnie possessed a selfless spirit and was a true hardworking lady who cared deeply for her family. She was a loving wife, adoring mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed.  

In addition to her parents, her son, Larry Edward Tew; two sisters: Nancy Fox and Edna Vickers; four brothers: Herbert Fox, M.C. Fox, Ray Fox and Robert Fox all preceded her in death. 

Survivors include her husband of 72 years, Clinton Lee Tew, Slocomb; two daughters: Patricia Hall (Donny), Slocomb and Gwen Morris (Randall), Slocomb; three grandchildren: Christie Hughes (Jason), Kimberly Strickland (Steve) and Kelly Langham (Brant); five great-grandchildren: Scarlet Hughes, Marissa Strickland, Conor Strickland, Jaxon Langham and Kyson Langham; one great-great grandaughter, Maleena Strickland; several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.  

The family would like to express a special thank you to Mrs. Tew’s caregivers: Ann Palmer, Jewel Grimes and Mary Sawyer and to the entire staff of Bonifay Nursing Home for their love and care.
