Myrtle LaNora Combs, of Auburn, Georgia passed away Monday, June 18, 2018 after a brief illness at the age of 73. 



 



Born September 5, 1944 in Dothan, Alabama she was the only daughter of Raleigh Conley Godwin and the late Julian Madge Godwin, née Hall. LaNora married Edward Emerson Combs December 26, 1963. While raising her family she earned her degree from Troy State University and subsequently taught English and Literature at Ashford Academy in Ashford, AL., Haney Vocational Center, and Shaw Adult Center located in Panama City, Florida.  



 



LaNora is survived by her husband, father, her four children Edward Raleigh Combs, Amy LaNora Xydias (Ted Albert Xydias), Christopher Daniel Combs (Roxanne Leigh Combs), and Katryn Tara Combs. Additionally, she is survived by her grandchildren; Roman Alexander Xydias (Jessica Erin Xydias), Ashton LaNora Burton (Jeremy Craig Burton), Alexandra Julian Combs, and Evan Daniel Combs; her great grandchildren: Benjamin, Julian, Bradley, Willow; her sister-in-law Linda Hitson; and numerous cousins, nieces, and other extended family. 



 



Visitation will be held Thursday, June 21, 2018 at St. Columba Catholic Church in Dothan, Alabama from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM with the formal service immediately following. Graveside interment will take place at Memory Hill Cemetery.  



 



Flowers may be sent to St. Columba Catholic Church at 2700 West Main Street, Dothan, Alabama. Or, if desired, a donation may be made to St. Jude in her memory.
