Mrs. Opthelia Newton, age 78, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2018, at Flowers Hospital following an extended illness.
A private graveside service will be held Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Pastor Jerry Bolton officiating and Kendall Glover directing.
The family will be receiving friends on Sunday, February 11, 2018 from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Kinsey United Methodist Church, 725 Broad Street, Kinsey, Alabama.
Mrs. Newton was born in the Pleasant Plains community in Henry County, Alabama to Ovie and Lola Mae Deese Hodges. She was a 1958 graduate of Headland High School. Mrs. Newton was a homemaker most of her life and was employed at Vaughn Blumberg Center for 10 years. She was a member of Kinsey United Methodist Church and Webb United Methodist Church Charge while her husband was a pastor there.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 59 years Wayne Newton and a brother Carl Hodges.
Survivors include her 2 daughters Hope Gunn (Jeff) and Faith Bolton (Jerry) both of Kinsey; 6 grandchildren Hannah Timberlake (Matthew), Rebekah Lunsford (Joseph), Sarah Dworek (Greg), Noah Bolton, Samuel Bolton and Ahna Bolton.
In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Newton’s desire is for all people to seek and love the Lord with all their heart, soul and mind.
