Obituary: Mrs. Rhonda Sanders

 

Mrs. Rhonda Sanders of Wicksburg passed away Sunday, August 19, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 66. 

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Piney Grove Assembly of God Church with Rev. Brian Presley and Rev. Eric Norris officiating and her son-in-law, Ken Azar delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. 

The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday beginning at 2:00 p.m. and continuing until service time. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama, PO Box 531225, Birmingham, AL 35253. 

Mrs. Sanders was born August 28, 1951 in Houston County to the late Herman Hoover and Frances Holland Stephens. Rhonda Sanders was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and grandmother. She was gentle, kind, and humble with a sweet soul. She will be greatly missed. She enjoyed reading and traveling with her family. She was a faithful child of God and member of Piney Grove Assembly of God Church. 

In addition to her parents, her sister, Brenda Treadaway Smith preceded her in death. 

Survivors include husband of 48 years, Ronald Sanders, Wicksburg; daughter, Pamela Sanders Azar and her husband Ken, Birmingham; son, Dr. Darrell Sanders and his wife Dr. Sharman Sanders, Anniston; four grandchildren: Ansley Azar, Hallie Azar, Ken Azar and Sophia Sanders; two sisters: Rita Grantham (Jimmy), Wicksburg, and Sylvia Ownby (Daron), Muscle Shoals; several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
