Nancy Lauvern Jones

Nancy Lauvern Jones, age 87 of Dothan (formerly of Headland) passed away early Sunday morning, December 16, 2018 at Wesley Place.

Funeral services for Mrs. Jones will be held at 2PM Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at Bethlehem Baptist Church of Headland with Brother Norman C. Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Derek Wright and Family First Funeral & Cremation Care. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to service time.

Mrs. Jones was born October 25, 1931 in Bascom, Florida to the late George D. and Pencie L. Skipper. Raised in Gordon, she spent most of her life in Headland. She was a homemaker and a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church for many years.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jones is preceded in death by her husband, James David Jones who passed away earlier this year; a son-in-law, Reggie Norton and a grandson, Jason Norton. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Wanda Jones of Headland; two daughters and a son-in-law, Brenda Norton of Cairo, GA and Judy and Anthony Akridge of Dothan; two step-daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie Jones and Larry Faison of Headland and Lynda Jones and Glenn DeeDon of Headland; a sister-in-law, Glenda Poulston and her husband, Jerl of Headland; a grandson, Brent Whitten and his wife, Brooke of Headland; five step-grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
