Obituary from Holman Funeral Home and Cremations – Ozark, AL


 


1SG Jackie Delano Ray (United States Army, Retired), 82, of Ozark, died Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at his home.


Funeral services will be 10:00 A. M. Monday, October 16, 2017, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home and Cremations in Ozark with Reverend Matthew Wright officiating.  Interment will follow in Camp Ground Baptist Church Cemetery with Full Military Honors, Holman Funeral Home directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Sunday from 3:00 P.M. until 5:00 P. M.


1SG Ray was born May 2, 1935 in Lepanto, Arkansas to the late Robert Ray and Annie Lea Lowe Ray.  He served in the United States Army for twenty-five years until his retirement in 1976.  Following is military service, he worked with Civil Service at Fort Rucker until his retirement there in 1995.  He enjoyed being involved in his community.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Sue Hawkins Ray; and one son, Wade Ray.


Survivors include two daughters, Reba Ray of Ozark, Rose (Shannon) Hearst of Slocomb; two sons, Randall (Gaby) Ray of Dothan, James (Debra) Ray of Ozark; six grandchildren, Lauren (Jessie) Waters, McKenzie Hearst, McKayla McGarvey, Jackie (Dominic) Angeles, Matt Ray, and Chris Carlson; two great grandchildren, Emily Angeles and Anna Angeles; his special friend, Judy Wolf.


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ozark-Dale County Humane Society, P. O. Box 2502, Ozark, Alabama  36361.
