Mr. Garrett “Moon” Beasley, 81, of Ariton, entered his heavenly home on Sunday, January 14, 2018, following an extended illness surrounded by his family and close friends.


 Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 17, 2018, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Phil Craddock officiating.  Interment will follow in Haw Hill Assembly of God Cemetery with Military Honors, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Wednesday from 12:30 P.M. until service time. “In honor of Garrett we ask you to leave your suits in the closet and wear something more comfortable to the funeral.”


 Mr. Beasley was born April 8, 1936 in Ariton, Alabama to the late Foy Beasley and Edna Paulk Beasley. After graduating from Ariton High School in 1954 Mr. Beasley immediately joined and served in the United States Air Force until 1957. Mr. Beasley met and married the late Blondell Johnson in 1958. He worked in the textile industry for forty plus years after receiving a textile technology degree from Opelika Vocation Technical Institution. Mr. Beasley retired from Galey & Lord Textile Mill in Shannon, GA as a department manager in 1998 but continued to work in maintenance until 2013 with Stone & Scofield Electric, Inc. He was a great husband, father and friend to many. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and tinkering in his shop. Garrett is loved and will be missed by all who knew him.


 Survivors include; two daughters, and sons-in-laws, Jan Snell (Justin), Amy Phillips (Kenneth) all of Ozark; one brother and sister-in-law, Bill Beasley (Felicia) of Ariton; five grandchildren, Crystal Benefield (Michael) of Eufaula, Wade Godbold (Whitney) of Ariton, Anna Johnson of Hoover, Kristi Bell (Jeremy) of Dothan, Andy Phillips (Stacey) of Echo; thirteen great grandchildren, River Watson, Brantley Watson, Zach Benefield, Drew Benefield, Tyler Benefield, Reid Godbold, Ryles Godbold, Katelyn Phillips, MaKayla Phillips, Cody Phillips, Haystin Woods, Kenleigh Woods and Brody Bell; one special great grandpuppy Tucker Dean Johnson; two nephews Brent Beasley, Drew Beasley and special friends Dorothy “Cookie Mama” Martin and his Indian Brother Max Hughes.


 Pallbearers are; Wade Godbold, Jeremy Bell, Andy Phillips, Drew Beasley, Brent Beasley and Donnie Godbold.


 The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Scott McAllister, Dothan Hematology and Oncology, Heather Metcalf, his caregiver Sue Kyle and Sherry Johnson from Community Hospice of Dale Medical Center.
