Obituary from Holman Funeral Home and Cremations – Ozark, AL


 


Mr. Glenn M. Pate, 81, of Ozark, entered his heavenly rest Sunday, July 3, 2016, at home surrounded by his family.


Funeral services will be 10:00 A. M. Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at Ozark Baptist Church with his son, Reverend Jeff Pate officiating.  Interment will follow in Westview Memorial Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing.  The family will receive friends at Ozark Baptist Church Tuesday evening from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M.


Glenn was born in Huntsville, AL on May 25, 1935 to the late Harvey and Lena Pate and spent his childhood in Conecuh County, AL. Glenn attended Auburn University and Troy State University where he earned his bachelors in business administration.  Glenn married Bobbie Sue Tindol on June 23, 1963 and they were blessed with 53 years of married life. Together, Glenn and Bobbie Sue raised three children and have been longtime members of Ozark Baptist Church. At OBC, Glenn served as a Deacon, Chairman of the Deacons, choir member, Sunday School teacher, RA leader and handbell choir member. Glenn served in the United States Air Force for four years and then employed for 32 years in the US Civil Service where he retired as chief of the Training Service Center at Fort Rucker. Mr. Pate was a member of the Dale County chapter of Gideons International. Glenn is survived by his wife, Bobbie Sue (Tindol) Pate; his children: Sharon Cleveland (Ed) of Pike Road, AL, Bruce Pate of Ariton, AL and Reverend Jeff Pate (Lorrie) of Tuscaloosa, AL; eight grandchildren: Lindsay Cleveland Lyon (Nathan), Patrick Cleveland, Tindol, Wilson, Sumlin, Parker, Daven, and Warren Pate; one sister and brother-in-law, Sara and Reverend Sigurd Bryan of Birmingham; one brother and sister-in-law, Don and JoAnn Pate of Montgomery, along with several nieces and nephews.


Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Ozark Baptist Church, 282 South Union Avenue, Ozark, Alabama 36360; or to Gideons International, P. O. Box 291, Ozark, Alabama 36361.
