Obituary from Holman Funeral Home and Cremations – Ozark, AL


 


Mr. Edgar Morris “Johnny” Collier, 78, of Ozark, died early Monday morning, September 5, 2016, in Flowers Hospital.


Funeral services will be 2:30 P.M. Wednesday, September 7, 2016, at Ozark Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Bill Montgomery and Reverend John Russell Collier officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the church Wednesday from 1:00 P.M. until service time. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dan Sowell, Billy Blackwell, Billy Blackmon, Bob Elia, Don Hallford, Mike Barefield, and Dr. Taylor Caffey.


Mr. Collier was born June 28, 1938 in Hughes, Arkansas to the late Robert Collier and Mary Dean Harrison Collier.  He was a graduate of Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas where he played football. Following his graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army, serving as a pilot during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War.  He was stationed at Fort Rucker where he met and married Marilyn Morgan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Christina Collier.


Survivors include his wife, of 51 years, Marilyn Morgan Collier of Ozark; one daughter and son-in-law, Angel and Nigel Ham of Hartford; three sons and daughters-in-law, John and Julie Collier of Birmingham, Daniel and Tammy Collier of Ozark, David and Beth Collier of Ozark; ten grandchildren, Ronald Trey Watson of Ozark; John Morgan Collier, Jr., Julia Katherine Collier, and Elizabeth Montgomery Collier of Birmingham; Daniel Harrison Collier, Jr., Christian Robinson Collier, and Thomas Parker Collier of Ozark; David Colson Collier, Caden Wilson Collier, and Wilson Morris Collier of Ozark.


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ozark Baptist Church, 282 South Union Avenue, Ozark, Alabama 36360; or to the City of Ozark Utilities Board, P. O. Box 1125, Ozark, Alabama  36361.
