Obituary from Holman Funeral Home and Cremations – Ozark, AL


 


Mrs. Annie Jo Leatherwood Shlam, 79, of Ozark, died Wednesday morning, May 17, 2017, in Ozark Health and Rehabilitation Center.


Funeral services will be 2:30 P. M. Sunday, May 21, 2017, from Ozark First Assembly of God Church with Pastor Greg Doss and Reverend Tom Skeen officiating.  Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing.  The family will receive friends in the Ozark First Assembly of God Church Saturday from 3:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M.


Mrs. Shlam was born February 18, 1938 in Dale County, Alabama to the late Massie Leatherwood and Maude Belle Isler Leatherwood. She was a faithful member of the Ozark First Assembly of God Church where she was involved with many of the church missions and worked with the church nursery for many years.  Mrs. Shlam loved her church. She loved her family and enjoyed her grandchildren’s activities.  Mrs. Shlam was involved with the senior citizen center and with SARCOA.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Anthony Miller; one sister, Sarah Norton; one brother-in-law, Preston Faulkner; and one nephew, Jeffrey Norton.


Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Norman Joseph Shlam, Sr.; one daughter and son-in-law, Joanne and Casey Miller; one son and daughter-in-law, Norman Jr. and Angie Shlam; four grandchildren, Jana (Ricky) Johnson, Joshua (Jennifer Barkett) Shlam, Chelsea (JC) Hyde, and Trevor Shlam; five great grandchildren, KayLee Johnson, Rachel Johnson, Jaysea Hyde, Delaney Hyde, and Kaghan Burkett; two sisters, Carrie (Tom) Norton and Myrtle Faulkner; nieces and nephews, Dorina (Bobby) Woodham, Carey (Janice) Faulkner, Chris (Heather) Faulkner.  Many other special nieces and nephews also survive.


Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Ozark First Assembly of God Church—Missions, 170 Country Club Drive, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
