Obituary from Holman Funeral Home and Cremations – Ozark, AL


 


SGT J. C. Johnson (United States Army, Retired), 76, of the Rocky Head Community, died Sunday, September 10, 2017, in Flowers Hospital.


Funeral services will be 2:30 P. M. Friday, September 15, 2017, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Robert Highsmith and Reverend Gary Woods officiating.  Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing.  The family will receive friends Friday at the Funeral Home in Ozark from 1:00 P. M. until service time.


SGT Johnson was born July 23, 1941, in Geneva, Alabama to the late Timothy Titus Johnson and Jessie Mae Miller Johnson.  He joined the United States Air Force in 1962 and served for four years in the supply department.  He then transferred into the United States Army where he was an aircraft mechanic for twenty-six years until his retirement.  Following his military service, SGT Johnson worked with Civil Service as an aircraft mechanic for eight years.  He was a master carpenter and enjoyed woodworking and Hot Wheels Cars.  SGT Johnson was a member and deacon of Victory Tabernacle Church. He loved his dog of ten years, Friskey.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Booth and Minnie Merle Wilson.


Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Gloria Ann Hutto Johnson of Ariton; one daughter and son-in-law, Joan and George Dorrill of Skipperville; one son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Keisha Johnson of Skipperville; three step-sons, Wayne and Cheryl McLeod of Dothan, Don and Pam McLeod of Atlanta, and Kenney McLeod of Ariton; two sisters, Arvella Blackmon of Abbeville and Thelma James Kirkland of Montgomery; one brother and sister-in-law, Joe Frank and Sara Johnson of Geneva.  Eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.


Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Victory Tabernacle Church, 3060 Dean Church Road, Ozark, Alabama  36360.
