HEADLAND. . .Patricia Spurlock “Tessie” Carter, a resident of Headland, died Wednesday morning, September 27, 2017, at her home. She was 64.

            Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Friday, September 29, 2017, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with eulogies to be given by her sons, Bradley P. Shaw and Derek T. Carroll. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 P.M. Friday at the mortuary.

            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3054 McGehee Road, Montgomery, AL 36111 or to Kindred Hospice, 2740 Headland Avenue, Dothan, AL 36303.

            Mrs. Carter, daughter of the late Paul Simmons Spurlock and Annie Pearl Brown Spurlock, was born in Ozark and reared in Ashford. She was a member of the Berean Baptist Church. Mrs. Carter was self-employed in the residential cleaning business. In earlier years, she was employed as a nurse’s aide with Southeast Alabama Medical Center and Flowers Hospital.

            Surviving relatives include a daughter, Cindi Ann Dabney, Ashford; two sons, Bradley P. Shaw (Jennifer Woodham), Headland; Derek T. Carroll (Mindy), Skipperville; a special daughter, Vickie Shaw, Headland; a sister, Julie Aspinwall, Murfreesboro, TN; a brother, Danny Spurlock (Debbie), Midland City; six grandchildren, Logan Lucas, Gabe Dabney, Emma Shaw, Kellie Shaw, Jessie Shaw and Cole Shaw, and a grandchild on the way;  a great-granddaughter, Madison Pearl Bristow, and a great-grandchild on the way.
