Peggy C. Bracewell, a resident of Headland, died Wednesday afternoon, May 30, 2018 in a Dothan hospital. She was 77.


            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 2, 2018, in Trinity Baptist Church, 15786 U.S. Highway 431, South, Headland with Reverend Dan Sheppard officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, between Headland and Dothan. Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark and Derek L. Wright directing. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Saturday in the church sanctuary.


            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to The ALS Association Alabama Chapter, 300 Cahaba Park Circle, Suite 209, Birmingham, AL 35242.


            Mrs. Bracewell, daughter of the late Theron Welton Crawford and Venie Mae Woodham Crawford, was a native of Panama City, Florida and formerly lived in Slocomb before moving to Headland in 1973. She worked as a teacher’s aide at Headland Elementary School for several years and later at JC Penney’s in Dothan. Mrs. Bracewell always had a smile for anyone and when you saw her smile a smile came to your face. She was kindhearted and would help anyone in need. Mrs. Bracewell was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Larry Bracewell, a daughter, Carole Blount Scott, her sister, Emmie Aurelia Coe and many others. Surviving relatives include her daughter, Lynn Blount Cole (Larry), Dothan; three sons, Dennis Murphy-Blount (Katia), Fort Walton Beach, FL, Paul Blount (Debbie), Hartford and Chip Blount, Headland; her sister, Maelynn Hatfield (Kenneth), Hartford; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, her special K-9 buddy, Stormy, and a host of other relatives.


            The family would like to thank her granddaughter, Hayley Chapman for her loving care for the past eighteen months.
