ASHFORD. . .Phillip Aaron Martin, a resident of Ashford, died Friday, January 19, 2018, at his home. He was 63.


            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, January 22, 2018, in the Cowarts Baptist Church with Reverend Christopher Dunnam and Bill Dorminy officiating. Burial will follow in the Crestlawn Memorial Cemetery in Avon. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M. Sunday at the mortuary.


            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Cowarts Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 10, Cowarts, AL 36321.


            Phillip Martin was born and reared in Houston County, son of the late Reverend A. B. Martin, Jr. and Catherine Owens Martin. He was a 1974 graduate of Ashford High School. Phillip lived in Cowarts before moving to Ashford in 1993. He was a member of the Cowarts Baptist Church and its Men’s Brotherhood. Phillip was retired from GE, Dothan Motor Plant, and later worked for Globe Motors.


            Surviving relatives include his wife, Debra Garrett Martin; a son, Aaron Martin (Brenan), Dothan; a grandson, Braydon Martin; four sisters, Laura Chafin (Larry), Dothan; June Norman (Sonny), Newville; Marie Etheridge (Brad) and Lyne Dorminy (Bill), all of Dothan; his mother-in-law, Eva G. Loyless (Garland), a brother-in-law, Joseph Garrett; several nieces and nephews.
