(Ret.) CW4 David Lee Currier, a resident of Daleville, AL passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at a hospital in Atlanta, GA from injuries sustained in an airplane accident. He was 67.


Funeral services will be held 3 pm on Friday, April 14, 2017 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Joshua Turvey officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.


Mr. Currier was born November 14, 1949 in Eldorado, IL. As a child, his family moved to St. Louis, MO where he grew up and met his high school sweetheart Jeanette Carol Currier and they married December 30, 1968. He joined the Army after high school and enjoyed a full career as a helicopter pilot. David served almost 30 years’ active duty before retiring at Ft. Rucker, AL. While he enjoyed his military career, he truly valued most spending time with his wife, children, grand and great-grandchildren.


Mr. Currier was a role model and hero to many. His faith, strong character, integrity, generosity and loyalty touched many lives throughout his family, students, co-workers, and community. He served and attended at Wings Chapel. He also volunteered by teaching Lakota UH-72 beginner and advanced classes open to all students who desired extra instruction on Sunday afternoons.


Mr. Currier’s passion was flying. He was blessed to be able to achieve his dream of buying his own plane and enjoyed taking frequent trips on vacation and to visit family and friends.


At the time of his death, Mr. Currier was a primary instructor pilot working at Cairns Army Airfield. He loved mentoring and teaching the young flight students under his care.


Survivors include his two daughters, Christine (Bobby) Sexton and Rebecca (Paul) Suggs; his four sons, Thomas (Gloria) Currier, CW4 David (Robin) Currier, Stephen (Jill) Currier and (Ret.) SSG Joseph (Krishelle) Currier; twenty grandchildren, Justin Sexton, Joshua Turvey, Jacob (Alisha) Turvey, Jacob Suggs, Nathan Suggs, Noah Suggs, Tony West, Katie (Nic) Wyatt, Belle Currier, Mi Shell Gomez, Santiago Gomez, Richard Gomez, Brianna (Elijah) Rohwer, Julianna Currier, David Currier, Dakota Currier, Rainna Currier, Deisel Currier, Kayla Hansen and Karly Hansen; and four great-grandchildren, Axton Turvey, Mason Wyatt, Harrison Wyatt, Fallyn Nay; his brother, William Currier; and his sister, Mary (Thomas) Dement.
