Reverend Henry Allen Johnson of Dothan passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 23, 2018 at the age of 83. Memorial services will be held at Memphis Baptist Church at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 27 with visitation held at 10 a.m. The service will be officiated by Reverend Jim Tate, Reverend Tom Anderson, and Reverend Travis Free.



Henry was born on March 31, 1935 in Coffee County, Alabama and was the fourth child of Roy and Lillie Johnson. Feeling the call to preach, Henry attended and graduated from Norman College in Norman Park, Georgia. He went on to serve in the Wiregrass area for sixty plus years as a minister in many churches including Cloverdale Baptist Church and Jakin Baptist Church. Henry also founded Pathway Baptist Church. During his ministry, Henry baptized countless people into the kingdom of God and touched the lives of many. He finished his ministry on staff at Memphis Baptist Church.



Henry was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel (the mother of his son), his wife, Carol Kornegay, sister, Nacie, and brother, Kilbie.



Henry was survived by his son, Gaius, his wife, Elaine, and grandchildren Abby, Patrick, and Bailey, who all reside in Birmingham. He was also survived by his wife, Sarah Coe Johnson, her daughter, Starla and husband, Steve, her son, Mark and wife, Beverly, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, his brother, Reverend Milford Johnson and his wife, Nell, and special friends, Max and Sandra Smith.



The internment ceremony will be held under the direction of Ward-Wilson at Memory Hill cemetery.
