REVEREND  JAMES  J.  BRADLEY,  SR.



ABBEVILLE. . .Reverend James J. Bradley, Sr., a resident of Abbeville, died Thursday afternoon, June 14, 2018, at his home. He was 78.


            Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 18, 2018, in the Old Union Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Thomas D. Gamble officiating. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 5:00 P.M. Sunday at the mortuary in Abbeville.


            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Kindred Hospice, 2740 Headland Avenue, Dothan, AL 36303.


            Reverend Bradley was born and reared in Haleburg, son of the late Theodore R. Bradley and Florence Bradley. He enlisted in the U. S. Navy at the age of seventeen and served twenty years, retiring with the rank of Petty Officer First Class. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. After retirement from the military, he served as a Free Will Baptist Church Minister and was a member of the Union Free Will Baptist Church.  Reverend Bradley was preceded in death by a grandson, Bradley Smith.


            Surviving relatives include his wife of fifty-nine years, Carolyn Mize Bradley; a daughter, Mary Ella Smith, Las Vegas, Nevada; two sons, Jimmy Bradley (Pauline), Abbeville; and Pete Bradley (Dana), Grand Ledge, Michigan; a sister, Evelyn Watkins, Columbus, GA; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren.


            The family would like to express their appreciation to Janie, Patty, Glenda, Allyson, LaMesha, Chaplain Jody, and Nicolle of Kindred Hospice and Debbie and Connie of the Houston County Health Department and especially his loving daughter-in-law, Pauline Bradley, for the loving care and kindness shown to Reverend Bradley during his illness.
