Reverend Samuel Spurgeon Baker of Blue Springs, Alabama entered into the Gates of Heaven Thursday, January 19, 2017, to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  Brother Baker was a Preacher of the Gospel of Jesus Christ for approximately 50 years.  He was a loving Husband to His wife Barbara Sue of 65 years, a loving Father and Grandfather.  Reverend Samuel Spurgeon Baker served as Pastor and Interim Pastored at many churches in the surrounding areas to include: Fleetwood, Glenwood, AL; Westgate Baptist, Montgomery, AL; Sykes Creek Baptist, Clio, AL; Prospect Baptist, Louisville, AL; Springhill Baptist, Blue Springs, AL; Daleville Baptist, Daleville, AL, Cool Springs, Enterprise, AL, Post Oak Baptist, Ozark, AL; New Hope Baptist, Skipperville.  He preacher many Revivals during his Ministry.  Many souls were added to the Kingdom  of God as God used his servant Reverend Baker.  He worked throughout the years as a textile worker, heavy equipment operator, mechanic and farmer.  He truly loved working in the garden as well. garden.  As well as a Fisher of Men for the Lord he was a skilled Fisherman and loved to be on the waters. He cherished the time he had fishing with many different people.  


Arrangements for Reverend Samuel Spurgeon Baker, Funeral services will be Saturday January 21, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Springhill Baptist Church in Blue Springs, AL. Visitation will be held at 1:00 prior to service at Springhill with Rev James Kilpatrick, Rev Ashley Faulk and Mr. John Harden. Burial will be at Anderson Baptist Church with Keahey Funeral Home of Clio and Lockhart directing.  


His Wife, Barbara Sue Gulledge Baker went to be with the Lord just recently on September 22, 2017. He is also preceded in death by his  Parents, Lamar and Lillie Gladys Helms Baker; Parents-in-law, Huey and Ruth Gulledge; Son-in-law, Jerry Wilkinson; Brothers Earl, Dean, and Bobby Baker.  Brothers-in-law Louie Hurst and Andy Faircloth. 


Survivors include his children, Betty Sue Wilkinson of Blue Springs Miranda (Pat) Schofield of Lockhart
