Rex Roberts, of Elba, Alabama went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at his current location in Pike Road, Alabama with his family by his side.  He was 82.

Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Hamilton Crossroads Church of Christ in Brundidge, AL with Reverend Douglas Williams officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home and Crematory directing.  The family will receive friends Thursday beginning at 11:00 a.m. and continuing until the time of service.

Mr. Roberts was born April 27, 1936, in Coffee County, AL to the late Frank Roberts and Hattie Lou Moore Roberts.  He was a member of Liberty Church of Christ in Elba.  He graduated from Pike County High School in 1954 and then attended Alabama Christian College where he met Ruth Miller and they married in December of 1957.  He then joined the Army and served two years while starting a family that grew to five children over the next eight years.  He enjoyed the country life, growing his vegetable gardens and spending time with his family.  He read a lot in his spare time and especially enjoyed reading about history, but the Bible was his favorite book.  He kept up on politics and current events.  Everyone that knew him would know to be prepared to have a wide range of conversations from God and religion to history and politics to current events and family.

He was preceded in death by his son Neal Roberts and his wife, Myrtle Ruth Roberts.

Survivors include sons, Jay Roberts (Kerry) of Pike Road, AL and Mark Roberts (Emily) of Vestavia, AL; daughters, Lynn Heaton (Steve) of Fayetteville, GA and Leigh Ledlow of Newnan, GA; sister, Katie King of Millbrook, AL; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to World Evangelism – The Voice of Truth International online:  http://www.worldevangelism.org/contact/#

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Kindred Hospice of Montgomery for all their care and support.
