Richard Douglas Brown, age 83 of Brown’s Crossroads community, Dale County, passed away Saturday evening, March 31, 2018 at the Henry County Health and Rehabilitation in Abbeville.


Funeral services will be held at 11am Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Bethel United Methodist Church with Reverend Jason Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church cemetery fund, c/0 Kim Winslett, P.O. Box 1314, Ozark, AL 36360


Douglas was a graduate of Dale County High School and Troy State University. He was employed with various Aircraft Maintenance contractors over a 40-year period at Ft. Rucker. He was a Mason, served in the U.S. Army and retired from the 131st Tank Battalion, Alabama National Guard.


In addition to his parents, Mangum and Helen Woodham Brown, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Ann Tindell Brown. Douglas is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Greg and Myren Brown of Dothan;  four grandchildren, Jessie Mae Brown, Zhai Chen Brown, James Gregory Brown, Jr. and Raylan Alexander Brown; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Rex and Lenora Brown and Wesley and Alison Brown, all of Ozark.
