Richard Munson, age 90, a resident of Dothan, passed away Sunday, January 28, 2018, at Flowers Hospital after an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at Glover Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Rob Oates officiating.  Burial will follow at Memory Hill Cemetery with Air Force Honors and Kendall Glover directing.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 3012 West Main Street, Dothan, AL, 36305 or Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, 2344 Co. Rd. 4, Slocomb, AL, 36375.

The family will be receiving friends from 1:00 pm until 1:45 pm on Wednesday prior to the services at Glover Funeral Home Chapel.

Mr. Munson was born in DeRidder, LA, on April 30, 1927, to Pete and Gladys Munson.  He was a graduate of Crozier Technical High School in Dallas, TX.  Mr. Munson joined the U.S. Marine Corp at an early age.  He later joined the U.S. Air Force commissioned as 2^nd Lieutenant.  He served in WWII as a fighter pilot, the Korean Conflict and later became a flight instructor training pilots for Vietnam.  Mr. Munson moved to Bainbridge, GA in 1954 and moved to Dothan in 1965 continuing as to work as a flight instructor.

Survivors include his wife Gwendolyn Harris Munson of Dothan, daughter of Thomas Harris, retired Methodist Minister, he is also survived by a son Ronald Lynn Munson of Enterprise; and a daughter Linda Ann Fiveash of Birmingham; 4 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren.

Active pallbearers will be: Jason Fiveash, Jason Trolard, Jack Holmes, Bo Thagard, Bob Slater, John Hooks and Birger Ohman.
