Roe May (79) was born on September 6, 1938, in Beaver, OK, and went to Heaven on December 16, 2017.  He was a longtime member of Enterprise, First Baptist Church, serving on numerous committees and as a deacon.

Services will be Thursday, December 21, at Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel, Enterprise, AL.  The family will receive friends 12:30 PM until service time at 2:00, followed by a private grave side service.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to First Baptist Church Youth Program, 302 N. Main Street, Enterprise, AL 36330.

Roe touched the lives of many people, especially countless students.  He attained numerous educational degrees and awards, coached all sports primarily in Kansas, and served as a high school administrator in Kansas and Lewisville, TX.  He had the reputation of being tough but the students knew that he would be fair and consistent and that he genuinely cared about them.

Roe retired in 2001 to Enterprise, AL, to golf, fish and embellish Oklahoma and Texas football stories.  He was active in his church, in the community, and enjoyed membership in the “old geezers” coffee klatch.

Roe is survived by his wife, Sue Lee May, Enterprise; daughter, Becky Dawn May, Wichita, KS; sons, Kurt May, San Antonio, TX and Dr. Gayle May, Charlotte, NC.  He has four “chosen” sons; Tigh Cundieff, Apex, NC; Tim, Trent, and Todd Cundieff, Dallas, TX area.  He has seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Roe always wanted his epitaph to be:

“Sooner Born and Sooner bred; and when I die, Sooner dead.”
