TUSCALOOSA – Ronald Keith Stokes, age 59, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., died June 4, 2017. Services will be 5 p.m. Thursday, June 8, 2017, at The First Baptist Church Chapel, Tuscaloosa, with David Carroll officiating. Burial will be 3 p.m. Friday, June 9, 2017, at Gardens of Memory in Dothan, Ala. with Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Max and Charlotte Stokes of Dothan and mother-in-law, Marie Crawford of Tuscaloosa.
Survivors include his wife, Joanne Crawford Stokes of Tuscaloosa; son, Conner Crosby Stokes of Tuscaloosa; sister-in-law, Connie Harris (Brad) of Boone, N. C.; brother, Roger Stokes (Jennifer) of Auburn, Ala.; father-in-law, Roy Crawford of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; niece, Ashleigh Van Cleave (Justin) of Auburn, Ala.; and nephews, Andrew Harris and Daniel Harris (Jessica), both of Boone, N. C.
Ronnie was born in Dothan. He graduated from Houston Academy, where he was a star football player on a championship team. He then attended the University of South Alabama, Troy University, The University of Alabama and Boston University. He earned degrees in accounting, an MTA degree, law and an LLM degree. He graduated seventh in his class at Boston University.
Ronnie was a loving, devoted husband of 34 years. His pastimes were watching Alabama football, participating in Boy Scout activities with Conner, hunting, cooking with Joanne and flying with the Henley Brothers. One of the happiest times was when he became a proud father.
Ronnie was a Christian and knew his real home was in Heaven with Jesus.
Pallbearers will be Andrew Harris, Daniel Harris, John Nichols, Bob Rhynard, Conner Stokes, Roger Stokes and Mark Henley.
Flowers or donations are accepted. His favorite youth organization was Boy Scout Troop 100, St. Mark, 1421 McFarland, Northport, AL 35476.
