ABBEVILLE. . .Roy L. Wilson, a resident of Abbeville, died early Thursday morning, December 6, 2018, in a Dothan hospital. He was 76.

     Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Saturday, December 8, 2018, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Reverend S. E. Newberry officiating. Burial will follow in the Pilgrim Rest Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:30 until 7:00 P.M. Friday at the mortuary.

     Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3054 McGehee Road, Montgomery, AL 36311.

     Mr. Wilson was a lifelong resident of Henry County, son of the late Oscar D. Wilson and Louise Cummings Wilson. He was a 1962 graduate of Abbeville High School and received a degree as a Registered Nurse from Wallace Community College. Mr. Wilson was formerly employed as a Registered Nurse at the Clay County Nursing Home, Henry County Nursing Home and Crowne HealthCare of Eufaula. In earlier years, he owned and operated Abbey Rest Home. Mr. Wilson was a founding member of the Crimson River Quartet. He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Sewell Wilson, a sister, Ruby Money, and three brothers, Victor Wilson, Shell Wilson and Rodney Wilson, and nephews, Ronald Bane and Joshua Bane.

     Surviving relatives include a son, Greg Wilson, a daughter, Tiffany Bane and another son, Brandon Bane (Anna), all of Abbeville; three sisters, Margaret Kirkland, Webb, AL; Patsy Knight and Peggy Payne, both of Abbeville; two brothers, Dick Wilson (Linda), Abbeville and Steve Wilson, Georgia; four grandchildren, Jaylin McCraney, Kaliah McCraney, Jordyn McCraney and Kynleigh Bryant; a special sister-in-law, Glenda Woodham (Mac); and a special caregiver, Thelda Hughes.
