EDWIN COMMUNITY….Rufus David Price, a resident of the Edwin Community, died early Monday evening, January 9, 2017 in the Henry County Health & Rehab Facility. He was 83.

            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, January 12, 2017, in the Edwin United Methodist Church with Reverend Kenneth Preston officiating. Burial will follow in the Edwin Cemetery. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at the mortuary in Abbeville. At other times, the family will be at the home of a daughter, Sandra Hembree, 5784 County Road 54 West, Clopton.

            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Edwin United Methodist Church, c/o Sue Taylor, 360 County Road 235, Clopton, Al 36317 or to the Edwin Cemetery Fund, c/o Larry Ryals, 302 Oak Drive, Abbeville, Al 36310.

            Mr. Price, son of the late Ivey Tellas Price and Evie Mae Tew Price, was a native and lifelong resident of the Edwin Community. He was engaged in farming most of his adult lifetime and was previously employed with Skipper Logging. Mr. Price attended the Edwin United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Marie Volf Price; two sisters, Ruth Smith and Lou Anne Toole; two brothers, Joe Lee Price and Arthur Price.

            Surviving relatives include three daughters, Marie Hodges (Johnny),  Sandra Hembree (Jeff), both of Edwin and Vicki Gilmore (Micky), Eufaula; two sons, David Price (Jane), Abbeville and Michael Price (Nicole), Bertha Community; three sisters, Eleanor Volf, Edwin; Peggy Boothe (Junior), Gordon and Hilda Faye Hartzog (Richard), Midway; twelve grandchildren, Cheryl Ayer (Marty), Melinda Birchler (Wayne), Jennifer Hodges, Jonathan Hodges (Kristen),Joseph Hodges, Suzanne Suckow (Robert), Melanie Brooks (Josh), Amber Waller (Craig), Taylor Lovett, Morgan Lovett, Cameron Price, and Annabeth Price; ten great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild;  a brother-in-law, Leon Smith, Abbeville and a sister-in-law, Carol Price, North Carolina.

            Serving as active pallbearers will be Buster Volf, Gene Volf, Cameron Price, Jonathan Hodges, Joseph Hodges and Noah Register.
