Ruth Elaine Day Wise of Samson, AL passed away on Saturday, February 02, 2019 at her residence. She was 84 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 5, 2019 in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home with Rev. Donnie Earles officiating. Burial will follow in the Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, February 4, 2019 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Piney Grove Baptist Church, Old Cemetery Fund c/o Kate Strickland 108 South Broad St., Samson, AL 36477.

Mrs. Wise was born in Geneva County, AL on April 15, 1934 to the late James Jackson and Maggie Esther Harbuck Day. Mrs. Ruth was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother who cherished her family and friends. She enjoyed fishing, but her passion was flower gardening, especially her roses.  She worked over 20 years with Wex Tex and Van Heusen Textile Mills as a seamstress. She loved the Lord and was faithful and devoted to her church, Piney Grove Baptist.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, James Robert Wise; two brothers, Jimmy and Robert Day and one sister, Dorothy Sumblin.

She is survived by her children, Jimmy Wise (Teresa) and Rita Bonds (Edsel) both of Samson, AL; and Janie Rials (Bill) of Coffee Springs, AL; five grandchildren, Charlie Mock (Tracy) of Kinston; Julie Britt (Reggie) of Enterprise, AL; Jim Mock (Ann) and Mark Wise (Jessica) all of Samson, AL; and Amanda Rials of Bentonville, Arkansas; eight great-grandchildren, Hayden and Gavin Mock, Marta Boner (Brandon), Bayleigh and Brantley Edberg, Judson and Jameson Wise, and Jacob Mock;  one sister, Grace Weeks of Kinston, AL; two brothers Eddie Day of Enterprise, AL, and Donald Day (Ann) of Pace, FL; sister-in-laws, Cathy Wise of Samson, AL and Fran Day of Enterprise, AL; a very devoted niece, Michaela Day Jackson of Enterprise, AL and numerous other special nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Mike Wise, Ed Davis, David Wise, Mark Wise, Jim David Mock and Charlie Mock.
