Sara Pelto, a resident of Shorterville, Alabama passed away on Friday, October 27, 2017 at her residence. She was 83.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at 2 pm at Judson Baptist Church in Abbeville, Alabama with Rev. Ray Riley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Robert Byrd of Sunset Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Pelto was born on November 18, 1933 in Shorterville, Alabama and lived there most of her life. She was employed at West Point Pepperell for over 30 years until her retirement. Mrs. Pelto was an avid gardener and loved growing flowers. She also loved cats and was always willing to give them a home. Mrs. Pelto enjoyed reading and crocheting.

Mrs. Pelto was preceded in death by a son, John Adams Newman.

Survivors include her husband, Kenny Pelto; children, Mann (Natalie) Newman, Chris Newman, Peggy (deceased, Harold Wayne), Fleming; Connie (John T.) Marshall, Cathy (Bobby) Pass and Vivian (Kim) Sabbatini; 13 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; a brother, Robert Fleming; and several nieces and nephews.
