Sarah Eloise Williams English, age 83, of Donalsonville, GA passed away Monday morning, May 9, 2016 at her residence.


Funeral services for Ms. English will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at 3:00 PM at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville, GA with Rev. Andy Glover officiating. Interment will follow in Union Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery with Chris Harvey, Dennis O’Hearn, Brandy White, Sherrill White, Joe Miller, and Chris Widner serving as active casketbearers. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening, May 11, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to Gentiva Hospice 432 E. Shotwell St. Bainbridge, GA 39817 or to the American Cancer Society .


Ms. English was born in Miller County, GA on Nov. 25, 1932 to Smillie Williams and Susie Miller Williams. She graduated from the Frasier Ellis School of Nursing of the University of Alabama in 1953 with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing, after having graduated from Miller County High School in 1950. She worked as a Registered Nurse with Early Memorial Hospital, having retired from that position in 1994. Ms. English was a member of Union Missionary Baptist Church, a past Vice-President of the Georgia Nurses Association, one of the founders of the Jinks School of License Practical Nursing, past President of the Miller County Cancer Society, a past Co-chairman of the Miller County March of Dimes, and a member of the American Heart Association.


She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters, Marda English of Donalsonville, GA and Marcia Culbreth Harvey and husband Chris of Dothan, AL; her grandchildren, Bryan Harvey, Jake Harvey, and Elizabeth Harvey all of Dothan, AL; two nieces, Debbie Williams of Dothan, AL and Debbie Hoelscher Verastigue of Houston, TX; and two nephews, David Williams and Scott Williams both of Valdosta, GA.


Ms. English was preceded in death by her parents, Smillie Williams and Susie Miller Williams; her husband, Macon “Sonny” Ellis Culbreth, Jr; three brothers, Billie R. Williams, Herman “Hamp” Williams, and Harold “Buck” Williams; a sister, Juanita Williams; and a daughter, Marla English.
