Sue Grimsley Cook, 87, of Ft. Gaines passed away on Friday, November 3, 2017 at the Pioneer Community Hospital of Early in Blakely. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 in Ft. Gaines Presbyterian Church with interment to follow in New Park Cemetery. Rev. Wade Spooner will officiate.


 Mrs. Cook was born on April 5, 1930 in Ft. Gaines the daughter of the late William Grady and Robbie McAllister Grimsley, where she resided her whole life. She was the wife of the late Claude Morris Cook Jr.


 “Mrs. Sue” was a graduate of Shorter College and furthered he education at the University of Georgia earning her specialist degree in education. She worked as a social worker for 1 year in Atlanta Fulton County before returning to Fort Gaines and working in the school system as librarian, Title 1 coordinator and classroom teacher. She retired in 1987. Mrs. Cook was a lifelong member of Fort Gaines Presbyterian Church where she served the Lord in many capacities. She served as secretary and treasurer for Fort Gaines Presbyterian Women and was and was clerk of the session for 20 years. She also was an active member of Fort Gaines Women’s Club and supported her husband Claude in many other community endeavors.


She enjoyed people, current events, football, animals, cards and avid fan of Georgia Bulldogs.


 She was a member of the Ft. Gaines Women’s Club, the Presbyterian Women, National Educators Association, Ga. Association of Educators and the Ft. Gaines Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband; Claude Morris Cook, Jr.


 Survivors include 2 daughters; Susie Ann Cook Rhodes and Catherine Cook Rice both of Ft. Gaines, a son; Claude Morris Cook, III of Lake Park, Ga., a sister; Peggy Grimsley Brown of Ft. Gaines, 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.


 There will be a short visitation at graveside following services.


 Memorials may be made to Fort Gaines Presbyterian Church in Fort Gaines, Georgia 39851
