Terry Wayne Beard, age 63, of Cowarts, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2018 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center with his family at his side following a brief illness. 

Funeral arrangements will be on Friday, July 13, 2018, at 2:00 pm at Cowarts Baptist Church with Reverend Johnny Roberts officiating.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 1:45 pm on Friday prior to the service at Cowarts Baptist Church.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Glover Funeral Home directing.  Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to Cowarts Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Drawer 10, Cowarts, AL, 36321.

Terry was born March 25, 1955, in Shelby County, Alabama to the late Albert Howard and Flora Hughes Beard and lived his early life there.  His family later moved to Iowa for several years before returning to Birmingham.  He has been a resident of Cowarts for almost 30 years.  He was employed in the restaurant and food industry all of his working career as a manager and cook.  In his earlier years, he enjoyed fishing and skiing.  He also  loved baking and cooking.  Mr. Beard  enjoyed karate and was a 5^th degree black belt and an instructor at Park’s Karate. He was a member of Cowarts Baptist Church.

Terry was predeceased by his parents and 3 brothers Thurman Beard, James Beard and Wayne Beard.

Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Vicki Still Beard, a son, Timothy Wayne Beard and a daughter, Heather Lynn Beard, all of Cowarts; 2 brothers, Kelvin (Donna) Beard of Augusta, GA and Junior Beard, of Augusta, GA; 3 sisters, Betty Coburger of Navarre, FL, Karen Gault (Ted) of Birmingham, AL and Marie Beard of Augusta, GA; several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Timothy Beard, Chris Beard, Steven Gaut, Russell Gaut, Clifton Whitaker, Larue Lee, Brett Hinson and Andrew Jones.
