Timothy Wayne Suggs, a resident of Headland, passed away on Friday, December 1, 2017. He was 49.


Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, December 4, 2017 at Headland First Baptist Church with Rev. Ricky Sowell officiating. Burial with ALEA Honors will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at Sunset Funeral Home on Sunday from 5-7:00 pm.


Tim was born on November 30, 1968 in Dothan and resided in Webb the early years of his life. He was a 1986 graduate of Ashford High School and attended Wallace Community College where he graduated in 1989 with a degree in Auto Body repair. He began his career in law enforcement in 1991 with the Houston County Sheriff’s Department Reserve. Tim attended the Police Academy in 1993 and following graduation began serving with the Headland Police Department. He later served with the Henry County Sheriff’s Department and the Dothan Police Department. Currently he was employed as a State Trooper with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency. Tim was a member of the First Baptist Church of Headland. He was a past member of both the Blue Knights and the Houston County Reserve Rescue and Dive Team. Tim was an avid motorcycle rider, loved Jeeps, and enjoyed playing pool.


Tim was preceded in death by his father, Walter Suggs, Jr., his grandparents, Charlie and Callie White and G.W. and Vesta Suggs.


Survivors include his sons, Dylan Suggs and Cody Suggs; daughter, Callie Suggs; mother, Nell Duke; brothers, Paul (Rebecca) Suggs, Donnie (Laura) Suggs, and Steve (Sandy) Suggs; sisters, Lynn (Dennis) Saunders and Tammy Felder; mother of his children, Cecelia Suggs; special friend, Katherine Lee; several nieces and nephews.


Serving as pallbearers will be Greg Boutwell, Paul Suggs, Dylan Suggs, Eddie Raines, Mark Ward, and Paul Blackmon.
