Tony Alan Harrell, a resident of Dothan, Alabama passed away on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at a local hospital. He was 62.


Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 25, 2018 at 4 pm in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carl Greene officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3-4 on the day of the service.


Tony was born on February 20, 1956 in Dothan, Alabama and lived his early years there. Tony received his welding certificate in 1976 from Wallace Community College and his electronics degree in 1982 from Wallace Community College. He lived in Eufaula for 14 years where he was employed with the Barbour County Road and Bridge Department. Tony moved back to Dothan in 2002 to help care for his mother after the death of his father. After moving to Dothan, he was employed with Houston County Road and Bridge Department until his medical retirement in 2017. Tony was an avid Alabama football fan and loved watching the games with his family and friends. He enjoyed the outdoors and fishing. Tony was a member of Dothan First Assembly of God Church.


He was preceded in death by his father, Cecil Harrell; and a special aunt and uncle, Thelma and John Harrell.


Survivors include his mother, Virginia Harrell; his sisters, Sylvia (Roy) Gross and Susan (Martin) Marsh; nieces and nephews, Eddie Gross, Eric (Jennifer) Marsh and Bethany (Shane) Wise; and great-nieces and nephews, Caiden Marsh, Christopher Marsh and Sabella Wise.


The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation for the love and support of Tony by Dr. Mary Misischia and her staff, Dr. Russell Bedsole and his nurse, Candace Reneau and all the staff of the 5th floor of Flowers Hospital.
