Vermell Myers Vinson of Chancellor passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2018.  She was 82. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 28, 2018, in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. John Baxter and Rev. Ben Vickers, officiating.  A private interment will follow at Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 27, 2018, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 4693 State Highway 85, Chancellor, AL 36316.

 Mrs. Vinson was born in Dale County, AL on December 18, 1935, to the late John Thomas and Lola Mae Myers.  She was a longtime member of Providence United Methodist Church. Prior to her retirement, she worked at Clinton Mills for many, many years.  In her pastime, Mrs. Vinson loved to go fishing.  She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-two years, James Wallace “Wash” Vinson; a sister, three brothers; and a grandson, Randall Nichols.

 She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Nichols (Jerry) of Chancellor; two sons, Ray Vinson (Sharon) of Daleville and Rayburn Vinson (Wendy) of Dothan; five grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
