Victoria Edwina Winter, age 96 of Dothan passed away Monday morning, June 25, 2018 at her residence under the care of Alacare Hospice, following an extended illness.

Per her wishes, Family First Funeral Care is facilitating a Simple Cremation for the family.

Mrs. Winter was born June 24, 1922 in Queens, New York to the late Jack and Tate Hilliard. During her entire life, Mrs. Winter was a very devout and active member of the Roman Catholic Church. She was the founder of the Newcomers Club in Downey, CA and well as a volunteer at Downey Hospital. She was instrumental in helping others overcome alcohol and drinking problems and was a very big supporter of AA. During her spare time, Mrs. Winter enjoyed needle-point, camping and traveling but nothing in life gave her greater joy than being with her friends and loved ones. Mrs. Winter created a legacy that will be a true challenge for others to compare to.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Winter is preceded in death by her husband, Edward J. Winter and a daughter, Jean Mary Beleckas. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Louis and Janice Winter of Fredericksburg, VA and William and Mary Winter of Dothan. Three grandchildren and six great grandchildren also survive.
