Vonzine Coleman Grantham Barlar of Vestavia Hills, AL and formerly of Geneva, AL passed away on Monday, August 14, 2017. She was 97.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 19, 2017 in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home in Geneva with Reverend Dr. Ed Scott officiating. Burial will follow in the Poplar Head United Methodist Church Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, beginning at 1:00 p.m. and will continue until service time. Flowers will be accepted.

Mrs. Barlar was born in Hartford, AL on November 03, 1919 to the late William Duncan and Cora Alberta Metcalf Coleman. Mrs. Barlar loved to cook for her family. She was also an avid fisherman and a die-hard Atlanta Braves Baseball fan. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jonesboro, GA.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband and the father of her children, Lehmon Grantham; second husband, Dalton “Dink” Barlar; daughter, Annie Ruth Grantham Thurman Pope; step-daughter, Ann Barlar Childress; two brothers, Edward Dupree Colman, and Ernest Leon “Jiggs” Coleman.

She is survived by one son, Buddy Grantham (Connie) of Vestavia Hills, AL; one son-in-law, Grady Leroy Pope of Newnan, GA; five grandchildren, Tammy Martinez (Tim) of Newnan, GA, Grant Pope of Atlanta, GA, Paige Lehane (Danny) of Birmingham, AL, Shannon Moseley (Jerry) of Helena, AL, and Wanda Childress of Elberta, AL 11 great- grandchildren, Wyatt, Logan, Mason, Tyson Martinez, Brannon, Brady, Claire, Colleen Lehane, Will, Grant Moseley, and Rylee Ann Pope; one sister-in-law, Helen Coleman of Columbus, GA; and a host of special nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Wyatt Martinez, Logan Martinez, Tim Martinez, Danny Lehane, Jerry Moseley, Ricky Bennett, Charles Coleman, and Randall White.
